Paul K Harding, The Job of Liberia

A few weeks ago, Liberia was struck by a heartbreaking tragedy when a devastating fire engulfed the home of Paul K Harding, better known as ‘Strong God Pekin,’ a beloved icon in the Liberian gospel music scene. The incident happened while Paul was away on a musical tour in East Africa, leaving him completely unaware until he received the gut-wrenching news. The fire destroyed everything in its path—$16,000 worth of musical equipment, personal belongings, and all the valuables in his home. To make matters worse, Paul was left homeless while being thousands of miles away from his country. Talk about a nightmare!
The Liberian gospel music community was quick to rally around their brother in faith. Sympathy poured in from all corners, and efforts to gather support for his resettlement began almost immediately. A fundraising concert was organized by some of his supporters, and while it did generate some funds, rumors swirled that the event didn’t quite hit the financial target everyone had hoped for. Let’s just say, the generosity didn’t exactly set the world on fire (pun absolutely intended).
Throughout this ordeal, Paul displayed an incredible amount of strength and faith. In fact, some of his friends were even worried that he might be bottling up his emotions, especially since he’s known to be a source of inspiration for so many. But during a powerful ministration at Pastor Shadrick Cassel’s Lifting Crowns concert, Paul opened up about what truly kept him going through this heart-wrenching trial.
“I watched my house burn down on a video call,” Paul shared, “and in that moment, God reminded me of the story of Job.” Drawing parallels between his own life and Job’s biblical trials, Paul emphasized the spiritual lessons behind the tragedy. He pointed out that the fire started at midnight—a time when he could have been asleep and potentially lost his life. “But God preserved me,” he declared, his voice filled with gratitude.
Despite losing everything, Paul never lost his faith or his composure. He continued to minister and praise God, even in the midst of the ashes. And here’s where the story takes a turn for the incredible: Paul revealed that God used this situation to upgrade him. Yes, you read that right—an upgrade! Upon his return to Liberia, he received a phone call from none other than the former President of Liberia, George Weah, who handed over the keys to a VIP residence for Paul to live in for as long as he wanted. Talk about a divine plot twist! Paul now resides in a home far more valuable than his previous one, and he sees this as a perfect manifestation of God’s goodness and faithfulness.
What started as a devastating loss has now become a powerful testimony. Paul’s story is inspiring countless Christians, reminding them that even in the darkest moments, God can turn tragedy into triumph. Strong God Pekin isn’t just singing about God’s strength anymore—he’s living it. And honestly, if anyone deserves a standing ovation for their faith, it’s this guy. 🙌
So, here’s to Paul K Harding—a man who lost it all but found even more in the process. His story is proof that sometimes, life burns things down just to build something better. And if that’s not a reason to keep the faith, I don’t know what is! 😊
